This week we are beginning to look at the work of French artist Henri Matisse.
Matisse created bold, bright collages using paper he had painted then cut into different shapes. He was inspired by nature and the beautiful plants and creatures he had seen on holiday – he made cut-outs of birds, animals, sea creatures, leaves, flowers and even fruits and vegetables in his collages.
Can you create a collage from some paper cut-outs? You could draw or colour in your shapes on paper or card first. Have a look outside to get some inspiration from nature, like Matisse did!
