Hello Grayling 1! Happy 1st of March and welcome to our last week of remote learning! We look forward to seeing you for live maths at 9 and phonics at 11. Please see below for the lessons if you are unable to join us and keep scrolling down for today’s art activity.
Maths
Estimating Duration of Time
Can you think of activities that take one second to do? Repeat this exercise to discuss activities that take one minute and one hour.
Have a look at these examples, they may help you think of more!
ACTIVITY TIME:
Use a digital timer or stopwatch to show the duration of seconds and minutes by timing your child doing certain activities – this could be writing their names, drawing a picture, exercises. This will give pupils a sense of the duration of time.
Now work your way through the Guided Practice questions below and then complete page 110 in your workbook.
Maths Challenge Time:
Phonics
If you can’t join in with our live session at 11 then please watch Lesson 36 of the Year 1 Spring Term Lessons. We will be learning ch/tch as in witch.

Art
These works of art are all very different – but can you work out what is the same?
That’s right – they each have different shades of blue in them!
Today we are going to explore tints and shades of blue.
If you have some paints or pastels at home try making your own tints and shades of blue. Start with blue then add increasing amounts of white for tints or black for shades. Talk to someone at home about what you notice as you add in black or white. You could create your own colour chart, picture or just have fun exploring what happens!
Or why not go on a hunt around the house to see how many different blue things you can spot? You might like to gather some objects and create your own piece of 3D art…
