Thank you to everyone who came to share our wonderful home made scones yesterday! I was grateful the weather was dry! We had lots of fun making them and we loved being able to share them with you in a small stay and….. enjoy a scone afternoon!
This week we have been busy exploring lots of different methods to help us solve multiplication equations involving 2 digit numbers and 1 digit numbers. We have looked closely at the method which uses partitioning of our 2-digit numbers into tens and ones to help make it easier for us to solve. Our home learning this week is to explore this method.
As you can see from the example below, we partitioned 23 into 20 and 3 and then we were able to multiply 20 x 3 = 60 and 3 x 3 = 9. As we partitioned 23 first of all, we need to remember to add the two answers together from our multiplications to give us the answer overall, so 60 + 9 = 69.
We have also been super busy learning about rain forests and the different layers that make up a rain forest. We have really enjoyed exploring the different animal species that live there.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend, see you on Monday, Miss Mansell.
