We have been enjoying the super sunny weather recently and in disbelief that it is nearly July… Where has the time gone!
In Literacy we have been reading Matilda and learning all about the character Miss Trunchbull. We have been discussing what sort of character she is and describing her personality to influence our ideas to write about our own character! In Maths we have been looking at money and different coins and notes that we can use to make different totals. We have really enjoyed finding different ways to make the same amount using different coins. You may enjoy exploring this game which encourages the use of different coins (please check for external links and there is an option to choose an appropriate level). It is National Insect Week (20th-26th June) and we have been thinking about the insects that we can find in the habitats around us and also the ones that may be endangered here in the UK. Why not go on an insect hunt in your local area to see how many different species you are able to find, what insect is the most common?
On Monday 27th it is year 2’s sports day and we are excited to welcome you at 1:30pm. Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit on Monday and they bring in their water bottle. Please apply any sun cream before arriving at school and if your child is able to apply it themselves, they can bring in a named bottle of sunscreen to reapply before going on to the field. A light rain jacket may be needed so please keep a close eye on the weather forecast!
Have a lovely weekend and see you at Sports Day on Monday! Miss Mansell
